San Francisco Scooter Rider's Crash With 'Jaywalking' Jogger Caught On Camera

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A scooter rider said he may give up his scooter colliding with a "jaywalking" jogger in San Francisco earlier this month, a collision that was captured on his helmet camera.

Mark Pettit posted the video recorded as he commuted to work on October 13th.

"After waiting for a green light, I accelerated through the intersection. As I came around the bus, I made sure that my lane was completely clear. Shortly after that, a runner steps off of the sidewalk and enters into the traffic lane, jaywalking," Pettit wrote.

Pettit reported that the female jogger was taken away in an ambulance.

"I have a case number and will follow up to see if the lady is all right. I hope so," he wrote.

In an interview with KPIX 5, Pettit said he was told by his insurance company that he was not at fault. Pettit said he may give up his scooter because he can't stop thinking about the crash.

"It's been on my mind ever since, I've been going over it in my head asking myself if I could have avoided it," Pettit said. "Asking myself, wondering how she is, it's really been bothering me."

The jogger was released from the hospital on Monday after being treated for head injuries.
