3 Richmond Men Arrested In Oakland Robbery, Fatal Shooting

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Three 20-year-old Richmond men were arrested over the weekend in connection with the fatal shooting of another man during an attempted robbery in Oakland's Fruitvale District on Friday night, police said Wednesday.

The suspects, identified as Clarence Choice, Marchon King, and Melvin Lee Stewart, were booked into jail following the death of 35-year-old Oakland resident Carlos Lopez in the 3200 block of East 16th Street at about 11 p.m.

Police said Lopez was with a friend, 28-year-old Daniel Revels of Alameda, when the three suspects tried to rob them and shot Lopez multiple times.

Revels exchanged gunfire with the robbers but was not injured.

When police arrived, he was arrested on suspicion of a weapons offense.

Investigators arrested Choice and Stewart on Saturday and King on Sunday. Choice and King have been charged with Lopez's murder and attempted robbery, while Stewart is only charged with attempted robbery, according to police.

All of them were booked into Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. Choice and King are being held without bail, Stewart on $150,000 bail and Revels on $50,000 bail, according to jail records.
