Calif. Lesbian Couple On Hawaii Vacation Say Police Arrested Them For Kissing

HONOLULU (CBS / AP) -- The Honolulu Police Department has opened an internal investigation based on a lesbian couple's allegations an officer wrongfully arrested them for kissing in a grocery store while on vacation.

The department announced the investigation on Wednesday, a day after Courtney Wilson and Taylor Guerrero filed a lawsuit. They say they were harassed and arrested because the officer didn't like their public displays of affection in a Foodland store on Oahu's North Shore.

Their attorney, Eric Seitz, says there was a scuffle while they were being arrested, and they were charged with felony assault on an officer. Charges were eventually dismissed. He says the incident happened on their second day on vacation from Los Angeles.

Seitz says Foodland apologized to the women.
