Police Activity Prompts Lockdown At Fremont School
FREMONT (CBS SF) -- Police activity near Cabrillo Elementary School in Fremont prompted a lockdown at the school around noon Wednesday and students have since been dismissed, according to the school district's website.
At around 2:30 p.m., Fremont police spokeswoman Officer Geneva Bosques said officers are still dealing with an ongoing incident at a residence about a block away from the school at 36700 San Pedro Drive.
She was unable to provide details on what she described as an isolated incident. She said the lockdown was a precautionary measure and that it posed no danger to the school's students or staff.
Fremont Unified School District at 12:51 p.m. reported that students were going to be allowed to leave the campus on a staggered schedule, and that the students would be dismissed before 1:30 p.m.
At 2:37 p.m., the website was updated to report that the school remained under lockdown.
