Mystery Swirls Around Missing Rohnert Park Couple After Bank Surveillance Photo Surfaces

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A photo of a missing elderly Rohnert Park couple taken by a bank surveillance camera has investigators scratching their heads.

The photo shows the missing pair at a bank in Healdsburg on Monday afternoon, more than a day after the two were reported missing. According to investigators, Szabolcs Walkos and his wife Maria withdrew a large sum of cash.

Police said the couple is still considered missing even though in the bank photo, they appear alive and well.

The pair told the teller they had an appointment with the doctor, but police said there was no record of an appointment. They also missed an appointment with a real estate agent on Monday for the sale of their Rohnert Park home.

The case began on Saturday, when Szabolcs (aka Sam) called 911 and said his 90-year-old wife was not well. When emergency crews arrived he said she was feeling better. Szabolcs, who is 85, told paramedics he would have her examined later, police said.

The next day, the couple's son called from Europe and reported them missing. Police arrived at the couple's home to find the couple's car was gone.

The couple's son told police they have health issues and at times become disoriented.

The Walkoses have dual citizenship in the U.S. and Canada.

Police believe they may be driving to Canada in a faded green 2001 Toyota Camry with the California license plate number 4NHV446.
