Woman Removing Clothes Snarls Bay Bridge Traffic

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) — A woman was taken for a psychiatric evaluation after she stripped down to her underwear while strolling along the Bay Bridge in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Wednesday strip tease caused a traffic backup as cars swerved around trying to avoid the woman.

California Highway Patrol Officer Peter Van Eckhardt says the trouble began around 6 p.m., when several drivers saw a woman wearing blue jeans and a sweater running onto Interstate 80.

Van Eckhardt says patrol officers caught up with her and ran interference, but she ignored them and continued stripping. She walked for about 20 minutes before officers were able to arrest her. The woman hasn't been identified.

She was wrapped in blankets and taken San Francisco General Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.
