Rohnert Park Man Wanted For Allegedly Shooting Wife As She Came Home From Work

ROHNERT PARK (CBS SF) -- Rohnert Park public safety officers are asking for help finding a man wanted for shooting his wife on Friday night, public safety officials said.

Dispatchers with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety received multiple calls reporting the shooting at about 11:50 p.m. in the 500 block of Alta Avenue, according to public safety officials.

Officers are looking for Cipriano Velazquez, 44, of Rohnert Park, public safety officials said.

Officers allege Velazquez shot his wife as she tried to drive away from him outside her home, according to public safety officials.

Velazquez's wife recently moved out of the home she shared with Velazquez, according to public safety officials.

She had just come home from work when allegedly Velazquez approached her vehicle as she pulled into the driveway and shot her, public safety officials said.

Officers found Velazquez's wife inside her home with a bullet wound to her chest, according to public safety officials.

Paramedics took her to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, public safety officials said.

She told officers on Wednesday that he called and said he would kill her before she left him, public safety officials said.

Detectives began looking for Velazquez after his wife made the call, according to public safety officials.

Officers said people should consider Velazquez armed and dangerous and are asking anyone who sees him or knows where he is to call police immediately, public safety officials said.

Velazquez reportedly took the gun and ran toward Copeland Creek after the shooting, according to public safety officials.
