Referee Saved By Firefighters After Suffering Cardiac Arrest During Petaluma Game
PETALUMA (CBS SF) -- A man was revived by firefighters after he suffered a cardiac arrest while refereeing a game at a soccer field in Petaluma Saturday afternoon.
Around 3:45 p.m. Saturday, the ref collapsed. Bystanders determined that he had no pulse and wasn't breathing, so they initiated CPR and applied an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the man's chest.
Firefighters responded to Lucchesi Park on Maria Drive, and paramedics determined that he needed additional shocks from a defibrillator.
The man was conscious, breathing and able to speak with rescuers when he was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
