Niners Fans Pay $1K To Fly Banner Over Levi's Stadium Telling York To Part Ways With Team

SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- As the 49ers battled the Cardinals on the ground Sunday, a plane flying a banner stating what has become a popular opinion among 49ers fans – that owner Jed York should mutually part ways with the team.

A group of fans paid over $1,000 to pay for the banner, and say they do expect a reaction from the stunt.

"I absolutely expect a reaction from Jed about this," Mark Scannell said.  He was one of three fans that helped get the banner flying.

The banner read, "JED & 49ERS SHOULD MUTUALLY PART WAYS" as it flew above Levi's Stadium.

The wording pokes fun at the way the team parted ways with former head coach Jim Harbaugh.

"They weren't very transparent in the process, so we thought it would be kind of funny to poke fun at him," banner co-creator Graham Grealish said.

The banner sent a strong message.

"We didn't want to come off as whiny fans, but we felt the message was pretty strong, but still respectful at the same time," banner co-creator Jack Harrington said.

Fans quickly snapped pictures of the banner and shared them on social media.
