Prized 19th Century Violin Stolen From Vehicle In San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Police are asking for help in finding a prized 19th century violin stolen from a vehicle in San Francisco's Fillmore District.

The instrument is a George Craske violin, made in the 1800s. Violins made by Craske are valued in the $10,000 to $15,000 range.

San Francisco police said the violin - along with a Fedriksson Bow valued at $4,000 and a $3,500 BAM Hightech Slimline violin case - were stolen on the evening of November 20 from a vehicle parked on the 1300 block of Webster St.

Anyone with information was asked to contact the police department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444, or text to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
