Suspect Captured Inside Toy Store After Wild Rampage

SAN JOSE (CBS-SF) – A suspect who rammed several vehicles including a patrol car in an effort to elude police was captured after he fled inside a San Jose "Toys R Us" store Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.

San Jose police said the incident began around 12:53 p.m. when officers responded to Thornwood Way and Winfield Boulevard after receiving a call from a victim who reported seeing his stolen vehicle in the area.

The officers attempted a car stop of the vehicle, but the suspect drove off at a high rate of speed. While fleeing, he began to ram occupied vehicles and struck a patrol car as well.

Shots were fired in the direction of the suspect's vehicle. He was not wounded and the officers were not injured.

The suspect eventually stopped the vehicle in the parking lot of a nearby "Toys R Us" located at 1082 Blossom Hill Road.

He then exited the vehicle and ran into the "Toys R Us" store.  The suspect -- whose identity has not been released -- was captured a short time later.
