No, Facebook Is Not Giving Away Millions To Random People For Sharing Post
(CBS SF) -- A urban legend following news about Facebook CEO's Mark Zuckerberg's pledge to give away most of his fortune has plenty of people copying and pasting in the hope of landing a chunk of that fortune.
Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan indicated they were giving away 99 percent of their Facebook shares to charity when they announced the birth of their daughter last week.
Soon after, a message began circulating on Facebook saying users could win $4.5 million by sharing and liking a "thank you" message to Zuckerberg:
The post claims that Facebook would select from those who post the message on their timeline and tag their friends for the givewaway, "as a way of saying thank you for making Facebook such a powerful vehicle for connection and philanthropy.
Needless to say, as with virtually all posts that claim copying/pasting/liking/sharing will generate some sort of reward or financial benefit, this one is also false. But you probably knew that, right?
