Antioch Police Arrest Suspect In Shooting Of Wife's Friend

ANTIOCH (CBS SF) -- Antioch police arrested a man early Monday for allegedly shooting his wife's friend.

The victim identified the assailant as Fernando Escobedo, 23, of Bay Point. He was arrested during a traffic stop later Monday morning, police said.

Police found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds lying in his home in the 3200 block of Longview Road at about 2:15 a.m.

He told investigators that his friend's husband, Escobedo, had come into the home and shot him, police said.

Investigators got a description of the suspect and his car from other witnesses in the area and spotted him later this morning driving on state Highway 160.

The officers followed the car onto state Highway 4 and pulled it over near the Loveridge Road off-ramp. Escobedo was arrested there, police said.

He was booked into jail on suspicion of attempted murder and burglary and remains in custody on $2.05 million bail, police said.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call Antioch police Detective Jason Vanderpool at (925) 779-6988.
