Free City At City College Of San Francisco

By Laurie Jo Miller Farr

City College of San Francisco wonders, "What have you always wanted to learn?" Even better, learn for free at this exceptional public, two-year accredited community college with locations throughout the city.

Classes Abound at CCSF

CCSF offers more than 250 degrees and certificates. Whether you'd like to have flexibility with online learning, take career and technical education classes, pursue continuing education, or get on the road to a degree, CCSF has a program for you.

The possibilities are nearly endless. For instance, you can get grounded in the earth sciences or fly high with aircraft maintenance technology. Learn to write code in computer science or learn to administer care in nursing. At the School of Business, foodies might consider the culinary arts and join Culinary Arts & Hospitality Studies, fashionistas can enroll in the Fashion Design and Merchandising Program, and entrepreneurs can study finance, marketing, small business administration and real estate. Still others enroll in our new Police Academy and pursue broadcast electronic media arts, foreign languages and engineering.

Act Now for Free City at CCSF

Beginning in Fall 2017, CCSF now offers tuition-free classes to students with California residency who live in San Francisco and to students with non-resident exemptions including eligible veterans. Add to your skills when you take advantage of Free City, a first-in-the-nation partnership between City College and the City and County of San Francisco, backed by the voters of San Francisco. But don't delay, as January 2018 registration deadlines approach.

Who is Eligible for Free Tuition?

All students complete the Free City application when they register for classes. Afterwards, complete either a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or a California Dream Application to access additional sources of financial support. During the fall and spring semesters at CCSF, all courses are free for registered Free City students. Register now, as spring classes begin on Jan. 16, 2018.

The vibrant, multi-campus community college serves approximately 60,000 students each year at various locations in San Francisco.
