Trader Joe's Recalls Ginger Ale After Reports Of Bottles Exploding

MONROVIA (CBS SF) -- Trader Joe's has issued a voluntary recall of its Triple Ginger Brew brand of ginger ale following reports of unopened bottles shattering and exploding from customers.

While the ginger brew does not pose a health risk if consumed, all bottles have been removed from store shelves and destroyed as a precaution after the company received calls from customers who had unopened bottles of the ginger ale shatter or burst.

The recall affects all 25.4 fluid ounce bottles of Triple Ginger Brew (SKU 51857) purchased from November 9, 2015 through December 14, 2015.

No injuries or illnesses have been reported to date.

The potentially affected bottles were distributed to Trader Joe's stores nationwide.

Customers who have purchased bottles of the recalled Trader Joe's Triple Ginger Brew are encouraged to handle them with care and dispose of them immediately in an outside container.

Trader Joe's will provide a refund to customers who purchased the Triple Ginger Brew at any of their store locations. Customers can call the company's customer relations department at (626) 599-3817 between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. PST, Monday through Friday, with any questions.
