Violent Sunday In Oakland, 1 Killed, 5 Wounded In 5 Separate Shootings

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- One person was killed and five people were wounded in shootings in Oakland on Sunday, according to police.

Most of the shootings happened within about two hours of each other during the afternoon in West Oakland. The fifth victim was wounded in the evening in the city's Allendale neighborhood.

The homicide victim was killed near the West Oakland BART station at about 1:40 p.m., police said.

The teenage victim was found in the 900 block of Mandela Parkway and taken to a hospital where he died. His name has not been released.

Only about 40 minutes earlier, at about 1 p.m., a male teenager and two women were shot at the intersection of West Grand Avenue and Frontage Road, near where Interstate Highway 880 meets Interstate Highway 80 and the Bay Bridge, according to police.

All three were taken to a hospital to be treated for their injuries and are in stable condition, police said.

At 2:44 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 1000 block of Eighth Street, in the Acorn housing projects. A victim took himself to a hospital after the shooting and is in stable condition, police said.

The fifth victim wounded by gunfire Sunday was shot during a robbery in the 3800 block of Dale Place at 7:17 p.m., according to police.

Two people were robbed there and one of the victims was shot. They took themselves to a hospital and the victim was in stable condition after the shooting, police said.

No arrests have been made in the violence and no description of any suspects was released.
