On Tuesday, a witness saw a suspicious man walking with a package in the 1900 block of Worthington Circle.

Police said the witness realized the suspect did not live in the area.

The suspect saw the witness and then fled in a white GMC Yukon driven by a woman.

The witness was able to get the license plate number of the Yukon and reported the incident to police.

On Wednesday, detectives searched the residence of the owner of the Yukon and recovered a number of stolen packages, including the package stolen from Worthington Circle, police said.

Police said detectives also located information linking the suspect to identity theft.

Portillo was taken into custody without incident.

The man involved in the theft has not been identified.
