Oakland A's World Series Champion Dave 'Hendu' Henderson Dies At 57
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Oakland A's World Series Champion Dave Henderson died Sunday, officials with the Oakland Athletics said.
Henderson played an important part of the 1989 World Series Championship team.
He had a greater impact as a part of the A's family and the Oakland community, A's officials said.
Known also as Hendu, Henderson was born July 21, 1958 in Merced and debuted in the major leagues with the Seattle Mariners in 1977, according to MLB.com.
He died in Seattle. He was 57.
In his career Henderson hit 197 homeruns and batted in 708. His batting average was .258 and he stole 50 bases in his career.
Henderson was an American League All-Star with Oakland in 1991, according to MLB.com.
He played six seasons with the Athletics.
