Man Suspected Of Burglarizing Sunnyvale Gun Store Arrested

SUNNYVALE (CBS SF) -- A 29-year-old man suspected of burglarizing a Sunnyvale gun store was arrested after he was spotted in one of two cars he allegedly stole early Tuesday morning, according to the city's Department of Public Safety.

Officers were able to take Jerod Wold into custody based on his distinctive tattoos of the words "HATE COPS" inked on his knuckles, according to public safety officials.

Shortly after 4 a.m., officers responded to a report of a burglary alarm activated at U.S. Firearms Co. located at 590 S. Mary Ave., public safety officials said.

When officers reached the business, they saw someone had used a car to push a Dumpster through a rear door reserved only for store personnel, according to public safety officials.

Soon afterward, they saw a car leave the area and learned it was stolen just hours earlier from a nearby apartment complex, public safety officials said.

Officers were able to stop the driver, later identified as Wold, with a tire deflation tool and took him into custody without incident, according to public safety officials.

Investigators later learned Wold allegedly stole one vehicle that he used to break into the store and abandoned it for the second car, public safety officials said.

It did not appear the 29-year-old stole any firearms from the business, according to public safety officials.

Wold was booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of auto theft, burglary and two outstanding warrants related to drugs, public safety officials said.
