Napa Man Arrested On Animal Cruelty Charge After Admitting To Killing His Dog

NAPA (CBS SF) -- Police arrested a 31-year-old man Wednesday morning in Napa on suspicion of cruelty to an animal after he admitted to killing his dog Tuesday, police said.

Officers arrested Nicholas Luiz at about 8:30 a.m. in the 1100 block of Massa Drive after they found his dog dead at his home.

Officers responded at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday to Luiz's home and no one answered the door, according to police.

Witnesses reported Luiz had been abusing his five-month-old German Shepherd for months and the dog was thought to be dead in the backyard, police said.

Officers booked Luiz into county jail, police said.
