Bystander Shot During Downtown Oakland Altercation

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – The Oakland Police Department is reporting a female bystander was shot during an altercation in downtown Oakland late Tuesday morning.

Just after 10:30 a.m., an Oakland Police watch commander viewed a shooting in the 1300 block of Broadway.

The shooting occurred during an argument between two males on the sidewalk.

The watch commander pursued the armed suspect into the 1400 block of Broadway, where he was last seen. The male victim, who was shot at, fled the scene.

A female adult bystander was injured during the shooting and was transported to a local hospital where she was listed in stable condition.

Police continue to search the area to locate witnesses and to gather video surveillance.

The Oakland Police Department is actively investigating the shooting and asks witnesses or citizens who have information to please contact OPD's Felony Assault Unit at (510) 238-3426.
