Twitter Testing Character Limit Change From 140 To 10,000
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Those short, succinct 140-character Tweets may soon turn into 10,000-character tomes. Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature that would allow users to post pages instead of paragraphs.
According to Re/Code, tweets would still look the same, but an new click-option would expand them to reveal more content. The basic look of the timeline would stay the same.
Still, lengthier tweets could be a major paradigm shift for the San Francisco-based micro-blogging company. Twitter users have come up with all sorts clever ways to communicate more with less. The ubiquitous hashtag, once a "secret handshake" among Tweeters, has become a part of everyday interactions, organizing thoughts, people, places and things into simple shorthand.
No official launch date has been set.
