Facebook-Owned Oculus Accepting Orders For Virtual Reality Headset
MENLO PARK (CBS SF) – Nearly two years after being acquired by Facebook, virtual reality company Oculus is now accepting pre-orders for its headset.
According to the company's blog, the Oculus Rift is being offered for $599. The headset will initially be available in the U.S. and 19 other countries. The first orders will be shipped on March 28.

Consumers will receive the wired headset, a camera that tracks the user's head movements, controllers, along with two games. For the headset to work, a powerful gaming PC running a 64-bit version of Windows is required.
The company said additional games would be available later this year.
According to CNET, several virtual reality headsets will be available to consumers this year, including devices from Sony and HTC. Cheaper VR headsets using smartphones inserted into a viewer are already available.
Oculus was bought by Facebook for $2 billion in March of 2014.
