Local Merchants, Landmarks To Be Featured In Super Bowl 50 Scavenger Hunt

SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) -- Super Bowl 50 will be a huge event and fifty select local merchants will be in on the action. It's all a part of the "Super Fan Chase," a promotional idea which follows the format of the CBS reality competition, "The Amazing Race."

"It's very much like 'The Amazing Race,' except that it's a sports theme -- fifty destinations across four days is the goal," said Bridgett Coates, the Super Fan Chase director.

"They (contestants) have to strategize on how to do that. Obviously, with it being such a big sporting event, it can get crazy but there are some smart ways to [win] and you just gotta figure it out and be that winner," she added.

Two-member teams with Super Fan Chase passports will navigate obstacles (some alive) at fifty different Bay Area venues over four days in February leading up to the Sunday kickoff.

Winners will receive a "VIP viewing experience" of the game, according to Coates.

"They'll live like kings and queens -- ultimately," Coates told KPIX 5's Vern Glenn.

Super Fan Chase, billed as the ultimate scavenger hunt, will begin at 8 a.m., Feb. 3 at UC Berkeley's Memorial Stadium and continue across fifty different locations around the Bay Area, concluding on Feb. 6.
