Wine-Tasting Arizona Tourists Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI

SONOMA COUNTY (CBS SF) -- An Arizona man and woman who took turns driving as they were wine tasting in Sonoma County on Monday afternoon were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A citizen contacted the CHP around 5 p.m. to report a possible intoxicated driver in a Chrysler 200 sedan that was weaving on Dry Creek Road.

The witness followed the car onto southbound U.S. Highway 101 and then as it exited the highway at Arata Lane in Windsor and stopped in a park-and-ride lot on Old Redwood Highway, CHP officials said.

The female driver, identified as Cheryl Buahnik, 51, of Glendale, Arizona, switched places with her passenger, Danny Miller, 60, also of Glendale, according to the CHP.

The witness again followed the Chrysler south on Highway 101 and two CHP vehicles stopped the car on Hopper Avenue. Miller told the CHP officers he took over driving because Buahnik had been drinking more than him, CHP officials said.

Miller said he and Buahnik had visited wineries on Dry Creek Road and were on their way to Napa. Both Miller and Buahnik were arrested on suspicion of DUI, and Miller's Arizona driver's license was found to be revoked, according to the CHP.

CHP officials said witnesses can report suspected intoxicated drivers by calling 911.
