Raiders Reportedly Considering New Home In Las Vegas

ALAMEDA (CBS SF) -- The Oakland Raiders may be looking for a new home in Nevada.

Reports are surfacing the team may partner with UNLV and the Las Vegas Sands Casino to build a new stadium. Officials with the casino say team owner Mark Davis will meet with them Friday to discuss the idea.

The university recently purchased 42-acres of land in southern Nevada where the Raiders could build a new home.

The Raiders have yet to comment on the report.

Some say the NFL has always had a firm stance against a team playing in Las Vegas due to the importance of gambling to the city's economy.

The Raiders applied to the National Football League to move to Carson this fall to share a new stadium with the San Diego Chargers but NFL owners rejected that plan earlier this month.

The Raiders then withdrew their bid to move to the Los Angeles area but the team's future remains up in the air because their latest one-year lease at the O.co Coliseum expired at the end of the regular football season.
