2 Escaped SoCal Prison Inmates Stayed In San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Two inmates who escaped from jail in Southern California last Friday are believed to be hiding out in the Bay Area, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Hossein Nayeri and Jonathan Tieu were seen Thursday night in the vicinity of The Alameda and Interstate Highway 880, and they were thought to have stayed at a local motel, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.
Investigators believe they may be in possession of a van reported stolen in the Los Angeles area. The vehicle is a white 2008 GMC Savana, and deputies with the Orange County Sheriff's Department believe that the license plate and stickers may have been removed.
Nayeri and Tieu escaped from the Orange County Central Men's Jail in Santa Ana on Jan. 22.
A third inmate, Bac Duong, also escaped with Nayeri and Tieu - but Duong has since been captured.
Nayeri, 37, is described as a Middle Eastern man with black hair and brown eyes who walks with a limp on his right side. He's 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 185 pounds, according to deputies.
Jonathan Tieu, 20, is described as a Vietnamese man with black hair, brown eyes and tattoos of Chinese characters on his left forearm. He stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 130 pounds, according to deputies.
They're believed to be armed and dangerous. Anybody who sees Tieu or Nayeri is asked to call 911 or call the Orange County sheriff's hotline at (714) 628-7085.
A $200,000 reward is being offered for information leading to their capture.
