Man Assaulted, Shot At Woman He Knew After Concord Crash

CONCORD (CBS SF) -- A man assaulted and shot at a woman he reportedly knew after they were involved in a traffic collision on Thursday in Concord, according to police.

Officers initially responded at 5:43 p.m. Thursday to reports of shots being fired from a vehicle near William Way and Meadow Lane, according to police.

A preliminary investigation revealed that it actually began when two vehicles collided and the motorists exited their vehicles, police said.

A male suspect then assaulted a woman and shot in her direction, though the bullets apparently missed her.

Police said it is believed the victim knew the suspect. She did not reportedly suffer injuries, police said.

The man fled in a Ford pickup truck prior to the arrival of officers, police said.

Pleasant Hill police found that truck abandoned at 7 p.m. the same day on Buskirk Avenue in Pleasant Hill. The vehicle was reported stolen out of that city on Tuesday.

Police said the suspect is still outstanding and the case is under investigation. Anyone with any potentially information on the case is asked to call Concord police investigators at (925) 671-3030.
