Woman Who Bought $1.4 Million Powerball Ticket In Union City Claims Prize

UNION CITY (CBS SF) – A woman who bought a winning Powerball lottery ticket worth $1.41 million last month in Union City has claimed her prize, lottery officials said Monday.

Had Cheryle Silveria matched the winning Powerball number of 17, instead of her number 22, she would have won the jackpot of $528 million in the Jan. 6 drawing. She matched the other five numbers, which were 47, 2, 63, 62 and 11.

Silveria said she's grateful for the win and would like to remain low-key about her plans for the future, lottery officials said.

Silveria bought her ticket at Perry's Liquor & Wine store at 31885 Alvarado Blvd. That store will get a $7,705 retailer bonus for the winning ticket, according to lottery officials.
