Saratoga Deputies Seek Suspect Who Assaulted Elderly Man

SARATOGA (CBS SF) -- Santa Clara County sheriff's officials are asking for the public's help to find a suspect who assaulted an elderly man at his Saratoga home last month.

At about 10:55 p.m. on Jan. 19, the suspect knocked on the front door of a home in the 12000 block of Parker Ranch Road, according to the sheriff's office.

When the resident answered the door, the suspect immediately punched the victim several times. The victim's wife confronted the man and activated an alarm, causing the suspect to flee the area.

Sheriff's deputies responded and searched the neighborhood but could not locate the suspect.

The victim was hospitalized with head injuries that initially left him in critical but stable condition. He has since been released from the hospital but is facing a long recovery, according to the sheriff's office.

The suspect is described as a white or light-skinned Hispanic man between 25 and 28 years old who stands between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall and weighs about 175 pounds. The victims said he had a clean-cut appearance and an athletic build, sheriff's officials said.

The sheriff's office has released a sketch of the suspect, which was made with help from the victim after his release from the hospital.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Sgt. Jason Brown or Sgt. Josh Singleton at (408) 808-4500. Callers who wish to remain anonymous can call (408) 808-4431.
