Inmate Tries To Escape From Courthouse In Santa Rosa

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- An inmate tried to escape Monday morning at the Sonoma County Superior Courthouse in Santa Rosa.

37-year-old John Pote had been in custody since his arrest last week on five misdemeanor warrants.

Court officials say Pote became upset during his court appearance, and suddenly bolted for the exits.

Officers detained Pote momentarily near the DA's Office, but he resisted and broke free.  A deputy eventually tasered him, and he was taken back into custody.

Pote was uninjured and returned to the main lockup.
