Concerned Parent Captures SUV Driving On Sidewalk Near Millbrae School

MILLBRAE (KPIX 5) – A concerned parent said his dash cam video captured an SUV driver who used a sidewalk near a Millbrae school to get around cars. Parents said the same vehicle has made this dangerous maneuver before.

"I just wanted to make sure this person wasn't going to be doing this anymore," the parent who recorded the video told KPIX 5.

The parent, who did not want to be identified, had his dash cam rolling Wednesday morning.

"Once there was another opening then he snuck over to the right and there's another car in front of him, another white car that actually tried to block him, so that's when he went up on the sidewalk," he recalled.

At the time, parents were dropping off their kids at Millbrae Meadows Elementary School.

The parent posted the video to YouTube and Nextdoor.com. "I thought what the heck is this guy doing? Driving on the sidewalk just to get in front of people?" he said.

It apparently wasn't the first time this happened. "After posting it on NextDoor.com other people started saying I've seen the same driver doing the exact same thing," the parent said.

The video made its way to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. On Thursday, they were out on patrol near the school.

"Just by chance, we saw the same vehicle do something very similar to what they did in the video," said Deputy Salvador Zuno of the sheriff's office.

Deputies said they don't know if the driver of the SUV was the same driver caught on camera Wednesday.

"We did show him the video and we asked him if he knew anything about it. He said he did not," Zuno said.

The SUV was registered to a company called GS Group Limo. KPIX 5 reached out the company, but did not comment.

The sheriff's office said the driver of the SUV on Thursday was cited with unsafe speeding and unsafe driving. "This kind of driving is not acceptable by us and will not be tolerated," Zuno said.

Deputies said the cited driver is a 37-year-old man from Millbrae, but did not give further details.
