Bay Area Small Business Owners Feeling Optimistic
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) -- Small business owners are feeling optimistic and confident according to a new survey, and the Bay Area is no exception.
Café de Casa just opened In December on San Francisco's Columbus Street, and owner Tyus Moreyes says it isn't for the faint of heart.
"It's expensive, there's so many license that you have to get," she said.
She says it was easier than when she opened her first location in South San Francisco five years ago, in part because of the banks.
"The loans are easier to get," Moreyes said.
53 percent of small business owners who took part in an Allstate-USA Today survey who said now is the best time to be a small business owner.
Will Hoppe, President of Ocean Beach Sportswear on Fisherman's Wharf says the technology that lets you build your own website, and process credit card payments and payroll has given them a huge advantage.
"It makes it much easier for anyone to start a store. You can go and literally start a store out of your garage," Hoppe said.
89 percent of the survey's respondents said the benefits of owning a small business outweighed the challenges.
