Gunmen Enter Palo Alto Movie Theater With Semi-Automatics, Rob Workers
PALO ALTO (CBS SF) -- Two movie theater employees escaped injury when they were robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night in Palo Alto, police said.
Dispatchers received a 911 call from theater employees at 10:05 p.m. about a robbery at the CineArts theater at Palo Alto Square at 3000 El Camino Real.
Two men entered the theater and one pointed a gun at an employee, a man in his late teens, according to police. A second suspect pointed a gun at the head of another employee, a woman in her 20s.
The suspects took the employee's cellphones and demanded to be taken to the theater's safe, police said.
When the suspects saw that little money was easily accessible, they fled and remain at large, according to police.
All of the patrons of the theater had left before the robbery and the doors were unlocked and open.
Police are describing one suspect as a skinny Hispanic man in his 20s who is about 5 feet 8 inches tall. The other suspect is being described as a skinny black man in his 20s who is about 6 feet tall.
Both men were wearing black hooded sweatshirts, black pants, black gloves and black masks. The mask of one of the suspects was similar to an athletic training mask, according to police.
The suspects used black semi-automatic handguns during the robbery. Police said no surveillance video of the incident exists and no sketches of the suspects are immediately available.
