Foodie Chap With David & Tim Duncan of Silver Oak Cellars
Mention Silver Oak Cellars & Twomey to anyone who loves Napa wines and they simply go GAGA...including me. Their wines are so hot that they have to limit the amount any wine club member can buy.
The family owned winery, founded by late father Raymond and run by brothers David and Tim is located on Oakville Cross Road, just off NAPA's Silverado Trail. They have another winery located in Geyserville, California.
Their winemaker Daniel Baron is a true Napa Valley wine star - a winemaker with the family since 1999. His wines simply ROCK!
I ventured to Silver Oak recently for our Foodie Chap chat. The Duncan brothers David (CEO) & Tim (Exec.VP) also took a few minutes to share some wine and stories. We talked up BottleRock Napa Valley (BRNV) May 27, 28 & 29 where Silver Oak Wines will be poured as good vibes and the sound of the Silverado Pick-Ups (David's band) fill the Napa air.
David kindly invited me to sign his guitar - yes the Foodie Chap among musical greats preserved in silver pen forever! (I am not worthy but thanks).
Enjoy the conversation with the guys behind some of Napa's best known and highly scored wines.
Cheers and see you at BottleRock - the first taste of summer!
- Liam

Silver Oak Cellars 2011 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is an elegant representation of Napa Valley Cabernet from a cool vintage. It presents an opaque garnet hue in the glass and reveals aromas of sandalwood and roasted meats. Flavors of vanilla, coffee beans and raspberries are buttressed by dusty tannins, firm acidity and a mouth-coating texture. Given proper cellaring, this wine should provide drinking pleasure through 2029.
