Driver After Gravel Truck Plows Into Home Near San Carlos

SAN CARLOS (CBS SF) -- The driver of a gravel truck was injured Monday afternoon when his vehicle crashed into a home near San Carlos  fire officials said.

The crash was reported at 1:13 p.m. at 260 Windsor Drive near Winding Way in the unincorporated community of Devonshire.

Firefighters from Redwood City and San Carlos, which have shared fire services since 2011, joined Cal Fire crews in responding to the crash, Redwood City fire officials said on Twitter.

One person was injured in the crash, which caused the spilling of some diesel fuel, fire officials said.

Joanne Hurlow, the daughter of the homeowners, said her parents had just finished remodeling after a car had crashed into the home two years ago.

"Before the damage was mainly just the bathroom and the closet that they had remodeled, so the back of the house was intact," said Hurlow. "But now you can see it's gone and taken out their entire bedroom, probably the entire bathroom closet and maybe some of the dining area."

PG&E crews were on the scene as well, since the truck also knocked over a power pole. Officials said 100 or so customers were currently without power and service might not be restored until Tuesday morning.

Crews will have to remove the truck to determine just how bad the damage is this time.
