4 Arrested In Fairfield Human Trafficking Operation
FAIRFIELD (CBS SF) -- Police have identified four people arrested over the weekend during a human trafficking operation in Fairfield.
As part of the operation, officers contacted hundreds of women advertising sexual acts for money, according to police.
Four teenage girls were contacted and officers determined the victims were being trafficked by men for profit.
Three men were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking. They have been identified as Jahil Mitchell, 19, of Sacramento, Paul Wells, 18, of Rancho Cucamonga and Christopher Stewart, 19, of Vacaville, police said.
The trio was booked into the Solano County Jail.
Several other men were also identified as being involved in human trafficking and police are currently investigating their involvement.
Additionally, thirteen women were arrested on suspicion of soliciting prostitution, drug offenses and for having outstanding warrants, according to police.
An advocate from the Solano County's Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Agency SafeQuest spoke with the women and referred them to available resources, before the women were booked into the Solano County Jail, police said.
In addition to the three arrests, police also arrested a Fairfield resident, identified as 25-year-old Kaylyn Stewart on suspicion of violating parole.
Convictions for human trafficking in California can carry penalties of 15 years to life in prison and fines of up to $500,000, according to police.
The operation was made possible with funds provided by a grant from the California Office of Emergency Services, Sexual Assault Law Enforcement Specialized Units Program.
