Dr. Seuss' 112th Birthday Celebrated At Schools Across Country
ALAMEDA (KCBS) -- Wednesday would have marked the 112th birthday of Dr. Seuss, and the country is celebrating with Read Across America Day.
Bay Farm School in Alameda marked the occasion with pajamas and technology.
Everyone was dressed in either a Dr. Seuss character outfit, or pajamas for the event.
Kindergarten teacher Judie Sanderson cooked up a breakfast feast.
"We have an amazing apron here, it says, 'Do you like green eggs and ham?'" Sanderson said.
In the media room, older kids linked up with kids from Otis school by video conference to play Dr. Seuss trivia. Questions included which elementary school Dr. Seuss attended.
"I believe that the answer is, Summer Street," one student answered.
Teacher and Librarian Roxanne Clement said Dr. Seuss' legacy is something to honor.
"I think the gift was the joy of reading. He made everything silly and fun, and there's no mistakes," Clement said.
