NRA Adds Weapons To Kids' Fairy Tales

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – The National Rifle Association has teamed up with a children's author to rewrite two classic childhood fairy tales, adding weapons to the story lines.

The two stories written by Amelia Hamilton have been published on the group's NRA Family website and put a pro-gun spin on the classics – "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Hansel and Gretel."

"Little Red Riding Hood (Has A Gun)" was published in January while "Hansel and Gretel (Have Guns)" was posted last week.

"Have you ever wondered what those same fairy tales might sound like if the hapless Red Riding Hoods, Hansels and Gretels had been taught about gun safety and how to use firearms?" an editor's note to "Little Red Riding Hood" says.

In the re-written "Little Red Riding Hood," when the girl's grandmother is confronted by the big bad wolf the line:

"The wolf leaned in, jaws open wide, then stopped suddenly. Those big ears heard the unmistakable sound of a shotgun's safety being clicked off. Those big eyes looked down and saw that grandma had a scattergun aimed right at him."

In "Hansel and Gretel," the pair goes hunting to provide food for their family.

In the reworked tale, they help free two boys taken hostage and help lead an armed hunt for the witch.
