Sharpshooting DNA Runs Through All The Currys

OAKLAND (CBS SF) – There must be something in the genes when it comes to long-range shooting with accuracy and the Curry family.

Golden State guard and reigning NBA MVP Steph Curry ended the regular season with an amazing shooting display in the record-setting season finale victory over Memphis – hitting on 10 of 19 3-point attempts – to become the first NBA player to top 400 3-pointers in a season.

He finished the year with 402.

Curry knocked down six in the first quarter and three straight during one jaw-dropping stretch that included a 31-footer well behind the top of the arc.

"At a certain point, about eight minutes in the first quarter, I was able to toe the line a couple times, knock it down and things started to flow," he said. "I was searching for it at that point because I made a couple. Kind of let it come to me and then have some fun with it."

Curry actually is the only NBA player to top 273 in a single season. He shattered his own single-season record of 286 set just a year ago. You get the idea.

He also joined rarified company in the NBA's 50-40-90 club. Hitting at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from the three-point line and 90 percent from the free throw line.

Curry's remarkable shooting ability could just be as freak of nature or is it?

Here's a look at Steph Curry's 3-point history compared with his father Dell – who had a long NBA career – and brother Seth who just finished his first full year on an NBA roster with Sacramento.

You be the judge.

Here's his father Dell's 3-point history during his NBA career.
And here's brother Seth's chart for this season.
