SFPD Officer Arrested On Suspicion Of Perjury, Filing False Documents

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Another officer with the San Francisco Police Department has been arrested and suspended without pay after an internal affairs investigation, police said Friday evening.

Saqib Aslam, a 29-year-old officer with nine years of experience with the department, turned himself in and was booked into jail on Friday.

He was arrested on suspicion of perjury and filing false documents with the Department of Motor Vehicles - both of which are felonies.

The investigation, which began in the summer of 2015, was based on information provided by another member of the department. Investigators allege that Aslam made false representations on a Department of Motor Vehicles request to keep his home address confidential.

The department thanked the San Francisco District Attorney's office for their assistance in the investigation.

Further information was not immediately available.
