Trump's Cinco De Mayo Taco Bowl Tweet Goes Viral

NEW YOR (CBS SF) -- Donald Trump celebrated Cinco de Mayo with an odd social media post that went viral on Thursday, generating almost as many jokes as it did retweets.

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee took to Twitter and Facebook Thursday with a picture of himself eating a taco bowl and the caption: "Happy #CincodeMayo! The best taco bowls are made in Trump Tower Grill. I love Hispanics!"

The tweet was greeted by derision by many who questioned why Trump would proclaim his love for "Hispanics" after launching his presidential campaign with his promise to erect a wall along the Mexican boarder to keep "killers" and "rapists" out of the U.S. while making Mexico pay for the structure.

The post was retweeted over 50,000 times and shared over 300,000 times on Facebook.

The taco bowl is not actually on sale at the Trump Grill, but the Trump Cafe in the candidate's namesake tower offers a "Taco Fiesta!" for $13.50.

The viral post quickly drew a response from leading Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton from her Twitter account.

It was Benny Johnson, Creative Director for the Political Edit (the online/email arm of the Independent Journal Review) who noticed that a photo of Trump's ex-wife Marla Maples wearing a bikini could be seen on the presidential candidate's desk.

There was some speculation that Trump may have been reading a People Magazine article interviewing Maples about raising her daughter with Trump as a single mother.

Trump's poll numbers among Latinos have been consistently poor.
