Pair Arrested In Las Vegas In Connection With Fatal Richmond Shooting

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old man in Richmond late last month, according to police.

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the death of Reginald Atkinson, a Richmond man who was shot numerous times on April 28, according to police.

Atkinson was found at a Valero gas station at 3701 Cutting Blvd. that day. Officers responded to the scene at 4:47 p.m. when a ShotSpotter gunshot detection system registered 16 gunshots at the gas station.

Suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Atkinson died at the scene.

Homicide detectives, through an investigation, identified 35-year-old Edbert James and 29-year-old Rosezetta Murray as suspects, police said.

Investigators determined that the suspects had fled to the Las Vegas area, according to police. Investigators from the Richmond Police Department then worked jointly with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to arrest James and Murray on May 11.

James, who police said is being held on $3 million bail, has been charged with murder and attempted murder, according to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office.

Murray, who is being held on $500,000 bail, is being charged with being an accessory after the fact.

No court date has yet been set for the pair, according to the district attorney's office.
