BART Service Resumes In Hayward After Person Hit By Train

HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- BART service on the Fremont line was stopped in both directions between the Hayward and South Hayward stations for about 30 minutes after a person was struck by a train, according to transit officials.

The person was hit between the Hayward and South Hayward stations, BART spokeswoman Denisse Gonzalez said at about 10:15 a.m.

The person was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

BART service was stopped between the two stations for about 30 minutes, causing major delays on the Fremont line, Gonzalez said.

As of about 10:45 a.m., BART resumed service on one track between the stations, but the investigation continues on the other trackway and delays persist, Gonzalez said.

By 11:10 a.m., full service was restored, Gonzalez said.

Parallel bus service was also provided by AC Transit with bus line #99 during the stoppage.
