The Go-Go's Rocked The 2016 Billboard Music Awards

By R. Del Rosario

LAS VEGAS, NV (CBS SF) – All-female superband The Go-Go's reunited to perform at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday night.

Belinda Carlisle, Charlotte Caffey, Gina Schock, Bay Area resident Jane Weidlin along with new addition Abby Travis rocked the T-Mobile Arena audience as they performed their hit single "We Got The Beat" from their 1981 album "Beauty and the Beat". Travis replaces original bassist Kathy Valentine who left the band in 2013, according to Billboard.com.

"Beauty and the Beat" spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, the first time an all-female group that wrote its own songs and played its own instruments topped the Billboard album chart. "Beauty and the Beat" sold in excess of 3 million copies and was certified as double platinum.

The four original band members and Travis will hit the road on their Farewell Tour, starting August 8th in Clearwater, Florida and making a stop at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga on August 22nd. The tour concludes at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on August 30th.
