Sanders To Rally In Fairfield, Cloverdale In Latest Bay Area Swing
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders, who is fresh off of a 3-day swing through the Bay Area, is due to appear at rallies in Fairfield and Cloverdale on Friday.
In an interview with KCBS Thursday night, Sanders said his chances of taking California in Tuesday's primary are good, if there is a large voter turnout, and that could lead to future success at the convention.
"I think that it is quite possible that some of those Superdelegates will take a look at the political environment today and say, 'You know what? In every national poll, and virtually every statewide poll, Bernie Sanders is a stronger candidate against Donald Trump, versus Hillary Clinton.' And maybe we should move over to the Bernie Sanders campaign," the senator from Vermont said.
According to the Sanders campaign, the Fairfield rally will take place at 2:30 p.m. on the Solano Community College Quad. Doors to the event open at 11:30 a.m. Sunscreen and water are strongly encouraged.
Sanders' supporters gathered more than four hours before the event, according to KPIX 5 reporter Wilson Walker.
The rally in Cloverdale will take place at 8:00 p.m. at the Cloverdale Municipal Airport, with doors opening at 5:00 p.m.
Meanwhile, Hillary Clinton is campaigning in Southern California Friday, with the possibility of her making another round of Bay Area visits over the weekend.
