Truck Careens Into Mountain View Office Building

MOUNTAIN VIEW (CBS SF) -- A truck driver suffered moderate injuries early Wednesday after he mistakenly stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake and slammed into a Mountain View office building.

According to Mountain View police, the incident occurred at around 6:34 a.m. at an office building in the 600 block of Ellis Street.

The delivery truck driver was exiting from northbound Highway 101 onto Ellis Street when he accidentally accelerated instead of braking. The truck careened into the building, heavily damaging the front of the vehicle.

The building only sustained slight damage, including a broken window and some tore up shrubbery.

The driver suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His immediate condition was not known. No one in the building was injured.

The crash remained under investigation, but police said it did not appear that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
