Suspect Arrested In NorCal Subway Sandwich Store Robberies

ROHNERT PARK (CBS SF) -- Rohnert Park public safety officers have identified a suspect who has been arrested for the recent robberies of several Subway sandwich shops around Northern California.

The suspect, identified as Frank Solorzano, 28, of Sacramento, was taken into custody Wednesday by Placer County sheriff's deputies, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.

Solorzano is suspected of robbing Subway sandwich shops in Vacaville, Sacramento, Petaluma, Rohnert Park and Placer County, public safety officers said.

The Sonoma County Subway store robberies occurred on June 1. Solorzano also is suspected of committing a theft on June 1 at the Sally Beauty Supply store at 4685 Redwood Drive in Rohnert Park.

Solorzano tried to purchase some merchandise with a credit card at the beauty store and showed his identification to the clerk, Sgt. Jeff Justice said.

When Solorzano's card was denied, he walked out of the store with the unpaid merchandise. The beauty store employee got his license plate number when she followed him out of the store, Justice said.

The clerk informed Rohnert Park investigators about the theft and contacted them again when she recognized Solorzano's image in a news release about the Subway store robberies, Justice said.

Rohnert Park public safety Detective Deborah Lamaison identified Solorzano as the beauty store theft suspect, and detectives from the other law enforcement agencies were notified and identified him as the suspect in their robberies.

Solorzano eventually will be transferred from Placer County to Sonoma County, Rohnert Park public safety officers said.
