Giants Re-Sign 2014 NLCS Hero Travis Ishikawa To Minor League Deal
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- The man who has provided the San Francisco Giants one of the signature moments in franchise history has signed a minor-league deal with the team.
Multiple outlets report utility player Travis Ishikawa has signed a deal to play for the Giants Triple-A Sacramento team, his third stint with the Giants organization.
Ishikawa played for the Chicago White Sox Triple-A Charlotte team this season, but was released a couple weeks ago after hitting just .201.
Last season, he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates after the Giants designated him for assignment in 2015.
He will be forever known to Giants fans for his pennant-winning, walk-off home run in the 2014 National League Championship Series, beating the St. Louis Cardinals and sending San Francisco to its third World Series.
Ishikawa rejoins the team which originally drafted him in 2002 and with which he has won World Series titles in 2010 and 2012.
