Metallica's James Hetfield Guests On Upcoming 'Heart' Album

By Hayden Wright

(RADIO.COM) – Heart's debut studio album Dreamboat Annie debuted in 1976—40 years later, Ann and Nancy Wilson's forthcoming Beautiful

Broken will include rediscovered material and a Metallica guest spot. James Hetfield plays guitar on the album's title track, first recorded back in 2012.

"[The Hetfield version] blows the previous version out of the water," said Nancy. "James just took the song on, and what he added was perfect with a bite and a rock accent."

The album also contains tracks from the archives, rearranged and retooled for 2016. Some were "lost in translation" when they were first released, says Nancy, as the 80s pop scene moved toward "harder and more digital sounds."

"Those songs may have fallen through the cracks, in a way, because of where radio was at the time when they were first released," explained Ann. "Rediscovering those songs, I found ways they emotionally still speak to me."
